Local Trails

Te Araroa

The Whanganui River winds its way from the mountains to the Tasman Sea through countless hills and valleys. Lowland forest surrounds the river in its middle and lower reaches, forming the heart of Whanganui National Park. Although a river journey, the Whanganui is part of New Zealand’s “Great Walks” network. Visit www.teararoa.org.nz to find out more.

Mountain to the Sea

From Tongariro National Park’s volcanic grandeur to the magical wilderness of the Whanganui River and the untamed Tasman Sea coast – our cycle trails will show you the sights, places and people that make our regions so special.
